I Love Texas!!
That's a pretty bold statement, but I mean it..... I love living in Texas, learning about Texas, experiencing all that Texas has to offer, and I especially love teaching my students about this great, big, wonderful state!
3D Texas!
At the beginning of each school year, the students and I spend time learning about the geography of Texas. Over the years we've completed various projects, but my favorite has always been the creation of a three dimensional Texas. This year each class (there are three) made their own map. Students had to not only know where cities and rivers are located, but also the regions, land-forms, and other physical features of Texas. Lots of glue, Model Magic, pipe cleaners, and glitter were used in the creations of these maps!
Creative Responses
As students learned about their regions, they took notes, planned their portion of the map, and completed individual work (paragraphs, poems, etc.) to show what they learned. Below are examples of creative pieces some students chose to make.
